Check out the food menu photos we captured with Exclusive PR for Bijan's restaurant in Chicago. We actually captured these at the Rizzo's Bar & Inn in Wrigglyville right across from Wriggly Stadium. We tried to add a little extra flare to the background of these dishes to add some color pop. For this shoot we used the Lumix S1 and S5 camera bodies with the Panasonic 24-105 and the Laowa 24mm Probe Lens. All of the photos were taken using the Panasonic 24-105 lens. This lens works well for things like this because it has a short minimum focusing distance. It can actually act as a macro lens for getting close details. We lit the scene using two Godox VL300 lights with Phottix Softboxes. We also got a ton of natural light because our studio for the day was Rizzo's Bar & Grill in Wrigleyville where the ceiling is made of glass. This helped out when using the Laowa 24mm Probe Lens because that lens needs a TON of light. It starts at F14 and goes up to F40. The lens we have is EF mount so we used an MC21 adapter to put it on the Lumix S5. We put the S5 on a Kessler Second Shooter Pro Slider to get some repeatable movements for some video of the food. We added movement by dropping smaller bits like corn, lettuce, and other greens into the shot while the slider was moving and filming at 120fps. You can see how these shots turned out in the BTS video below. We tethered to the MacBook going into Lightroom to ensure that each photo was perfect before moving onto the next one. It was a super fun shoot and I can't wait for the next one!
