Taking Lakeshore Video International

Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to take my work beyond Chicago and into a new creative environment—Montreal, Quebec. As the founder of Lakeshore Video, I’m always looking for ways to push the quality of the podcasts I produce, and this trip was a perfect example of that.

Being flown out to Canada to film a podcast isn’t just about travel—it’s about trust. It means clients value high-quality production enough to bring in the right person to execute it at a high level. That’s exactly what Lakeshore Video is built for.

Filming a Podcast with Jake Karls of Mid-Day Squares

The highlight of the trip was filming a podcast featuring Jake Karls, co-founder of Mid-Day Squares. If you’re familiar with the brand, you already know they’ve built a reputation around bold storytelling and authenticity—and Jake brings that same energy in person.

From the moment cameras started rolling, the conversation had a natural flow that made the entire shoot engaging. As a videographer, those are the moments you look for—real, unscripted interactions that translate into compelling content.

Hosted by Kevin Slaughter and Thomas DeMinico

The podcast was hosted by Kevin Slaughter of Levenfeld Pearlstein and Thomas DeMinico of BMO Harris Bank. Both brought a professional yet conversational style that elevated the discussion and made it feel genuine rather than rehearsed.

Strong hosts make a major difference in podcast production. When the conversation is guided well, it allows me to focus on capturing the best possible visuals and audio without missing key moments.

Behind the Scenes: Professional Podcast Production in a New Environment

Filming in a new city always presents unique challenges—different lighting conditions, room acoustics, and spatial setups. But that’s where experience comes into play.

At Lakeshore Video, my goal is to make every production feel seamless, no matter the location. Whether I’m filming in Chicago or Montreal, the end result needs to meet the same high standard.

This shoot required quick adaptation and attention to detail, ensuring that every camera angle, audio level, and lighting setup contributed to a polished final product.

Why High-Quality Podcast Production Matters

Podcasting has become one of the most powerful tools for building a brand, but production quality is what separates average content from content that actually converts.

Clean visuals, professional audio, and intentional framing don’t just make a podcast look better—they make your brand more credible. When viewers see high-quality production, they associate that same level of professionalism with your business.

That’s where Lakeshore Video comes in.
